About the Worm Moon
The March full moon, often called the “Worm Moon,” was named by early Native American tribes who associated it with the time of year when the ground thaws and earthworms emerge. It marks the transition from winter to spring. Other names include chaste moon, death moon, crust moon and sap moon, after the tapping of the maple trees.
