SUMMARY:7th Annual SGI Lighthouse Trick-or-Treat Spooktacular
DESCRIPTION:The St. George Lighthouse Association will be hosting its 7th Annual SGI Lighthouse Trick-or-Treat Spooktacular on Friday\, October 23rd from 6:30-8:30 pm in SGI Lighthouse Park. This free\, family-friendly event will feature multiple candy stations along the sidewalk and spooky decorations lighting up the park. Guests\, young or old\, are encouraged to wear their favorite costumes and join us for the fun. \nIf you are a local business\, group or resident interested in participating in handing out candy\, please CLICK HERE to sign-up. Booth spots must be reserved online\, in advance. Space is assigned on a first-come\, first-served basis and is very limited. As such\, we recommend you submit a volunteer form as early as possible. \nThe St. George Lighthouse Association is a nonprofit organization and continues to fulfill its mission through the support of our community\, visitors\, and lighthouse association members. While donations are not required\, they are graciously accepted. We hope you will all join us for this family fun event. It is sure to be Spooktacular!

SUMMARY:OCTOBER SUNSET AND FULL MOON CLIMB
DESCRIPTION:The St. George Lighthouse Association invites the public to experience the magic of the full moon with a Sunset and Full Moon Climb at the Cape St. George Light on Monday\, October 26\, 2026\, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. \nEvent Highlights  \n\nSunset at 6:58 p.m.\nMoonrise at 7:10 p.m.\n\nClimb Details \n\nTime: 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.\nTickets: Tickets can be purchased beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Lighthouse Gift Shop. No advance reservations will be accepted.\nCost: General Public – $10.00 per climber; SGLA Member – $7.00 per climber\nPayment: Cash and credit cards are accepted.\nFormat: Fifteen-minute lighthouse climbs are offered on a first-come\, first-served basis.\nCapacity: Each time slot is limited to 12 climbers to ensure safety and comfort.\n\n\nVisitor Requirements \n\nAll climbers must be at least 40 inches tall.\nFor safety reasons\, only children aged 13 and older may access the exterior catwalk.\n\nLocation – The Cape St. George Light is in Lighthouse Park at the center of St. George Island – End of Island Drive (off the bridge) at Gulf Beach Drive. \nHow to Participate \n\nArrive at Lighthouse Park and park in lots on either side of the park.\nVisit the Gift Shop (opening at 6:30 p.m.) to purchase your climb ticket.\nProceed next door to the lighthouse tower and sign up with the lighthouse keeper for your preferred 15-minute climb time.\nPrepare for an unforgettable experience of sweeping panoramic views of Gulf waters and island shores.\n\nWeather Permitting – The Sunset and Full Moon Climb is weather permitting. In the event of inclement conditions\, updates will be posted on the St. George Lighthouse\, Museum & Gift Shop Facebook page.\n\nAbout the Hunter’s Moon\nThe October full moon will be the “Hunter’s Moon”.  The  Hunter’s Moon is the first Full Moon after the Autumn Equinox. Traditionally\, it follows the Harvest Moon and marked the time when tribes hunted and stored food to prepare for winter using the moon’s bright light to track game. Other names for the October Moon Falling Leaves Moon (Ojibwe)\, Drying Rice Moon (Creek)\, Migrating Moon (Creek) and Seed Fall Moon (Celts).
