DESCRIPTION:The St. George Lighthouse Association\, in partnership with the SGI Veterans Reveille Group and American Legion Post 106 in Apalachicola\, invites the community to attend the Annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Wednesday\, November 11\, 2026\, at 11:00 a.m. in Lighthouse Park on St. George Island. We encourage you to attend this very meaningful ceremony to honor all our veterans. \n\nSeating is limited\, so please bring your own chairs. At the conclusion of the ceremony\, lunch\, dessert and drinks for all in attendance will be provided. Additionally\, the lighthouse will be open to everyone\, with free climbs offered to all veterans.

DESCRIPTION:The St. George Lighthouse Association invites the public to experience the magic of the full moon with a Sunset and Full Moon Climb at the Cape St. George Light on Tuesday\, November 24\, 2026\, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. \nEvent Highlights  \n\nSunset at 5:41 p.m.\nMoonrise at 5:38 p.m.\n\nClimb Details \n\nTime: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.\nTickets: Tickets can be purchased beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Lighthouse Gift Shop. No advance reservations will be accepted.\nCost: General Public – $10.00 per climber; SGLA Member – $7.00 per climber\nPayment: Cash and credit cards are accepted.\nFormat: Fifteen-minute lighthouse climbs are offered on a first-come\, first-served basis.\nCapacity: Each time slot is limited to 12 climbers to ensure safety and comfort.\n\n\nVisitor Requirements \n\nAll climbers must be at least 40 inches tall.\nFor safety reasons\, only children aged 13 and older may access the exterior catwalk.\n\nLocation – The Cape St. George Light is in Lighthouse Park at the center of St. George Island – End of Island Drive (off the bridge) at Gulf Beach Drive. \nHow to Participate \n\nArrive at Lighthouse Park and park in lots on either side of the park.\nVisit the Gift Shop (opening at 5:00 p.m.) to purchase your climb ticket.\nProceed next door to the lighthouse tower and sign up with the lighthouse keeper for your preferred 15-minute climb time.\nPrepare for an unforgettable experience of sweeping panoramic views of Gulf waters and island shores.\n\nWeather Permitting – The Sunset and Full Moon Climb is weather permitting. In the event of inclement conditions\, updates will be posted on the St. George Lighthouse\, Museum & Gift Shop Facebook page.\n\nAbout the Beaver Moon\nThe November full moon is traditionally referred to as the “Beaver Moon”.  The indigenous American tribes associated this moon to a time when beavers were actively fortifying lodges and were seen securing winter stores of food. Native Americans also called it the Frost Moon and Freezing Moon. The energy of this moon aligns with completion\, persistence\, culmination\, and security.
